Recreation Committee

If you would like to become involved in the Recreation Committee and share your voice in the direction of CUMC Sports, send us an email! We would love to hear from you.

Mission Statement:
The Recreation Committee will ensure that the recreation programs of Christ United Methodist Church glorify Christ through positive activity and Christian fellowship for all CUMC members and the community at large

Purpose Statement:
The Recreation Committee will:
• Support the Director of Recreational Ministries and the staff of the Christian Life Center by providing direction, input, and support of recreation programs in scheduling, organization, and implementation.
• The Recreation Committee will assist in the recruitment of volunteers, evaluate current programs, and identify ideas for new programs.
• Encourage collaboration between various recreation and non-recreation ministries to help bridge the gap between recreation involvement and worship/education.
• Develop ownership of the program among participants and attempt to involve more people in planning, implementation, and participation.

Vision Statement:
The recreation committee exists to utilize the Christian Life Center and the Recreation program of CUMC to change lives in the name of Jesus Christ.

Roles of Committee Members:
The Recreation Committee will be built upon the Chair and Vice Chair principle. The Chair agrees to a one year commitment and is the primary contact. The Vice Chair supports the Chair, learns the program, and agrees to a two year commitment. Upon completion of the first year, the Chair steps down and the Vice Chair becomes the new Chair. It is the responsibility of the Chair to identify and recruit the Vice Chair.
